Songs

step nine

Two months ago I shared a song from my second album. So, I figured why not round that out with the title song from that same album? The song, “Sometimes Good Things Happen” reminds me a little of the song, “It can get worse” (our song for next month’s musical walk-about), weirdly optimistic…and true. Sometimes good things happen. Sometimes they don’t. Things can always get worse. Sometimes they do. Only the perpetually lucky or avoidant might have difficulty seeing the truth of this.

And I believe that truth leads, inevitably, to compassion. So, here’s to hoping that good things happen to you. May you be lucky. But may we all be able to access compassion regardless of our luck. And if we have compassion – kindness, love – then perhaps we can be there for each other when bad times hit. And, if we can do that, maybe we can start dealing with reality early, often, and skillfully with kindness, a major theme in Kindness for a Change.
