This song is inspired by the real story behind the song, “Tie a yellow ribbon round that old oak tree.” It highlights the importance of home but also reminds us of our prison-industrial system. Though our incarceration rates are dropping, the United States still incarcerates a higher percentage of our population than any other country in the world, 13% higher than the second highest country, El Salvador (source). So, here’s hoping that we can evolve our culture from one that depends on such high rates of incarceration and control to an ecosystem culture that is restorative, connecting, resilient, and sustainable. Evolving to an ecosystem culture while connecting with your people is what my training, Kindness for a Change, is all about.
And, we need a little wise wild to evolve from dominator to ecosystem culture, an evolution that can transform our mental health, our relationships, and the planet. That’s the central theme of Kindness for a Change, the 5 star training that walks us through that transformation.
